Meet the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium - the World's First 4K Display Smartphone

When most of the smartphone manufacturers started to boost their flagship handset into the Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution, Sony took the opportunity to show off the world's first 4K smartphone with the Xperia Z5 Premium. It is the first smartphone in the world to features a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution.

Such resolution in the 5.5-inch display turn out to have an insane high 806 ppi pixel density. The Xperia Z5 has a 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display with IPS technology and 4K Ultra HD upscaling technology to take advantage of its display.

The Xperia Z5 Premium sports the same camera found in the Z5, a 1/2.3-inch 23 MP Exmor RS sensor with f/2.0 G Lens on the rear and a 5.1 MP Exmor R front-facing camera. The rear camera is capable to record 4K videos and save 8 MP still images from the 4K video footage.

The handset is also powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset featuring 64-bit Octa-core processor (2.0 GHz / 1.5 GHz CPU), Adreno 430 GPU and paired with 3 GB of RAM. Other features included 32 GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, IP65/IP68 certification for dust and water resistance, NFC and a capless USB port.

Design wise, the Xperia Z5 Premium differs from the Z5 and Z5 Compact with its mirrored glass back, but also include the etched Xperia logo on the side like the other siblings in the Z5 family. Besides that, the key feature fingerprint reader power button is also included.

Despite having a power-hungry 4K display, Sony claims that the Xperia Z5 Premium will still have the same 'two-day' battery life like the Xperia Z5. It has a high capacity 3,430 mAh battery and will supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.

Xperia Z5 Premium Colour Range

The Xperia Z5 Premium has  dimension of 154 x 76 x 7.8 mm and weighs 180 grams .The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and will be released in November in three colours: Chrome, Black and Gold.
