At the launch event, the iPhone 5C was introduced first. It was the budget model to its flagship iPhone 5S and potentially set to replaces the discontinued iPhone 5. It has a beautifully, unapologetically plastic and a steel-reinforced frame that also acts as the antenna for the device.

Under its hood, the iPhone 5C is more like an upgraded iPhone 5 with the same Dual-core A6, 4 inch 1136 x 640 Retina display and a 8 MP iSight camera. But it added some upgraded hardware such as a new FaceTime HD 1.2 MP front facing camera and larger battery capacity.

iPhone 5S

Now lets look at the flagship iPhone 5S. The design language of the iPhone 5S spots pretty similar to the iPhone 5, but what pack inside the iPhone 5S is totally a different story. First, the 5S features a new A7 processor which is based on 64-bit desktop class architecture, making its the first 64-bit smartphone in the world. And iOS was build optimized to run in 64-bit, A7 perform better and take advantage on the OS. The A7 is up 2x faster in CPU and GPU compare to the A6.

There is an extra M7 coprocessor found on the iPhone 5S, which designed specifically to track physical activity and measure motion data using the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass on the 5S. Thus, workload on the A7 was reduced and M7 is power efficient enough to save the phone battery.

Here come the fingerprint scanner found on the Home button called the Touch ID sensor. To unlock the iPhone 5S, simply put your finger on the Home button, the capacitive touch sensor will read and recognize your fingerprint and you are ready to access your phone with a convenient and high secure way.  In addition, the Touch ID has a 360 degree readability, which mean it can recognize your fingerprint regardless of the orientation.

The iPhone 5S comes with a new 8 MP iSight camera, it has a 15% larger sensor, a f2.2 aperture, bigger pixel at 1.5 microns and a new FaceTime HD 1.2 MP front facing camera. With the upgraded camera specs, it should result a better low light photography performance. There is a new True Tone flash, which is a dual LED flash that combine a white LED and an amber LED. The camera sensor detect and adjust the flash intensity and colors temperature to create the perfect lighting using the dual LED flash. It is capable to record slow motion video up to 120 fps at 720p, up to 3x zoom during recording and auto image stabilization.
